Direct Cremation From Just £995

What is a Direct Cremation?

A direct cremation is an unattended cremation whereby the deceased is cremated without a service at the crematorium and the cremated remains can be returned to a family member or scattered in the gardens of remembrance at the crematorium.

From just £995 a direct cremation is becoming one of the most popular funeral options and provides the opportunity for family and friends to celebrate the life of the deceased in their own way.

How a Direct Cremation works

A direct cremation involves no funeral service. It is usually unattended. It is ideal if you want a small funeral, either because of cost or due to the wishes of the loved one.

What does a Direct Cremation include?

  • Organising a doctor to complete the necessary paperwork
  • Collecting your loved one from a hospital within a 50 mile radius of Central Bedfordshire, along with their preparation and care until the day of the funeral
  • The provision of a quality coffin up to 6ft 4 X 24 (an additional charge may be added if the body size exceeds this size)
  • Confirmation of date of cremation
  • Transportation to a local crematorium in a suitable funeral private ambulance
  • Scattering of ashes in the gardens of remembrance or the safe return of ashes to the family upon request within a 50 mile radius of Central Bedfordshire

What is not included on a Direct Cremation

  • Visiting the deceased in a chapel of rest
  • A choice of coffin
  • Dressing the deceased in their own clothes
  • Choosing the date and time of the cremation
  • No choice of crematorium location
  • Attending the cremation service
  • An additional charge may be made for bringing the deceased into our care outside normal business hours
  • Chapel visits are not permitted
  • We will not carry out any embalming of the deceased person
  • There will be no additional optional extras
  • A doctors fee of £82 will be added if a Cremation Form 4 is required*

What are the benefits of a Direct Cremation?

  • A direct cremation is cheaper than a traditional funeral
  • You can say farewell to your loved one in your own way, without being tied to tradition or ceremony, even if this is at a later date after the cremation.
  • Your loved one receives a cremation carried out with professionalism and dignity
  • Without compromising on quality, it offers the same high standard of funeral care associated with Ford Family Funeral Directors.
